Introducing a new feature on get creative....

On the 25th of each month
we will introduce to you a
creative blogger
to inspire you
and
to stretch your creativity
so on that note I introduce you to our first
Creative Blogger

I have been following Cathy's blog for many months now
Her scrapbook layouts are amazing,
full of layers, sumptuous colour and beautiful details.
Cathy recently featured a flower tutorial on her blog
which I thought was inspiring and creative.....
So.....gather all your paper blossoms
that are sitting in the bottom of your drawer
you know the ones!!
the flowers we used to use on all our projects
before Prima Flowers became so popular LOL
and Cathy will show you how to revamp them!!

first a few words from Cathy

Hi, my name is Cathy Cafun. I live in sunny BrisbaneAustralia with my husband Yves
of 25 years and 2 teenage children Luke and Brittany and have been scrapping for
about 7 years now. I have always enjoyed dabbling in many different arts & crafts
since my teens, but once I was introduced to scrapbooking by a friend, that was it for
me, I had found my passion and I have been seriously addicted ever since.

The last year and a half I have found my work has really evolved by participating in
on-line Challenge Sites. I find I am becoming more adventurous and creative and am constantly trying to challenge myself to think outside the box.
I don’t think I have a particular style, but I do love the beautiful feminine pages am
very partial to the grungy distressed look. My inspiration usually comes from photos
of my family, and I just let my creations flow from there.
For me, scrapping is the perfect way to record all those precious family memories
and have fun expressing my creativity at the same time.
Here is my blog if you would like to pop in and say hello:
 http://cathycafun.blogspot.com/

Here are a few ideas on how to give new life to paper blossoms.

Creating some texture on your flowers by embossing them with Embossing Folders and swiping them with Ink.

You can stamp directly on to your flowers with your stamps.
A smaller overall pattern looks best.

Use glimmer mist on your blossoms to colour them to match your LO.
You can spray the whole flower or use splats for a more concentrated effect.

You can also use your flowers as a mask with your misting to create a fab background.
Use a fineliner pen to outline your images to create a little more dimension.

Using Bakers Twine and a needle to stitch onto your flowers.

Cutting your Blossoms in half and using them as a border.

You can jazz them up by using various centres like BradsResin Flower, Metal Flowersand Pins.

Various mediums can also be used like KindyglitzCrackle PaintDiamond Dust andLiquid Pearls

A few more ideas for centres, charms, cutting up a Felt Ribbon to use as a layer, a Mini Rose and scrunching a smaller blossom and adding Stamens for a bit of dimension. You can also roll the edges of your flowers and add some Leaves

Thanks for the inspiration Cathy!!......

Summer Magnolia

Good afternoon all,

The definition of summer according to wikipedia:

Summer is the warmest of the four temperate seasons, between spring and autumn. At the summer solstice, the days are longest and the nights are shortest, with day-length decreasing as the season progresses after the solstice. The date of the beginning of summer varies according to climate, culture, and tradition, but when it is summer in the southern hemisphere it is winter in the northern hemisphere, and vice versa.

To me summer is flowers, sunshine, swimming, Air condition, relaxing and .............HOLIDAYS!!!

My husband has to give up his holiday days for the July and August and we are planning where to go......... we are looking for a quiet island, here in Greece.

Happy father's day!

Good afternoon all,

Hope you are all enjoying your day. Today is father's day and i am going to the inlaws today for lunch. My husband forgot completely that it was father's day today but he is lucky that i remembered. I made a scrapbook lay out in a frame for my father in law. He has not had the best of days these last few weeks as he was in a car accident. But he is recovering day by day and i thought i need to make something special.

As the lay out had to go in a frame i could not make a lot of layers. On the lay out are his children with partners Dorita and George and Makis and moi. I picked an old picture from makis and me because we have put too much weight on the last few months.

Here are some close ups of the details. I used a die-cut of marianne design for the bird cage and stamped a butterfly behind and colored it with copic

Because the lay out is in a frame i could not stick the "bling bling"on the page so i decided to
put it on the glass. I don't think it can be seen very good on the picture.

I added a vintage cut stating " loving memories " and lace on each side of the page.

I hope he likes it, obviously as a safe gift we also bought a shirt ( always safe)

I wish you all a very nice sunday. Dont forget my blog candy giveaway. I am happy to see that more people added themselves on THANK YOU!!

Wonderful women!

Hello everybody,

It's been a few days..........busy making several lay-outs, cards etc....

Today i am posting a lay-out of my mother! It's because of her that i have the creativity. My mum is a very busy bee, she gives her own classes, goes to work shops, she goes out dancing, takes care of my grand mother and she also works every day.

I used this picture, because i think it's the most beautiful picture i have from  my mother. I think she must have been my age?? I stamped with my lace stamps behind the picture with distress ink and i used vintage paper for the border. The two flowers are made from coffee filters, i really love making them, very easy and cheap.

Here are some close-ups so you can see the details.

Like every other daughter, i think my mother is a wonderful women, with a lot of spirit. She always makes sure that i am up to date with all the latest fashion in crafting.

This is some of her work:
