I am happy...... Round 2!

Good afternoon all,

I made it trough round 2 of the supreme scrap tournament so off
i went to the next challenge for the scrap and card diva's.

the Scrap challenge:

Scrap Challenge:
Make a monochromatic colour layout

1. Pages : 2 pages Layout (double page!)
2. Theme: You can choose your own theme
3. Colour LO: The monochromatic color scheme you use is up to you
4. How many Photos: Minimum of 1 photo
5. Photos: One photo (must be partly on the left and partly on the right page)
- One photo needs to be black and white
6. Not to be used: You are restricted from using black anywhere on the layout including, pen lines, journaling or any other element.
There is not to be black on the page with the exception of your black and white photos.
You cannot use brown to antique elements unless brown is the colour you choose for your monochromatic colour scheme.
7. Materials you may use: embellishments, inkt, media stuff, everything what you want in a monochromatic colour.

Definition of the word MONOCHROMATIC:
Monochromatic color schemes are derived from a single base hue, and extended using its shades, tones and tints (that is, a hue modified by the addition of black, gray (black + white) and white. As a result, the energy is more subtle and peaceful due to a lack of contrast of hue.
and ofcourse the word is Greek!

This is my take :

I  chose the color purple and i took some pictures of Little Natalia. All pictures are black and white, except both pictures at the end i left the color purple of her sweater.
I used  2 x 24cm by 30cm canvas. As a guideline for  myself  i took this color scheme:

and trust me it was not easy!

Card Challenge:

Card: Monochromatic in 3D

1. Theme: You can choose your own theme
2. Colour Card: The monochromatic color scheme for your card is up to you
3. Card dimension: Free
4. You must use: The card has to have 3D elements. This can be a stepper card, a 3D dimension when opening the card (like pop-up elements)
5. You cannot use: You are restricted from using black anywhere on the card including, pen lines, journaling or any other element.
- There is not to be black on the card.
- You cannot use brown to antique elements unless brown is the colour you choose for your monochromatic colour scheme.
- You are not allowed to use cutting machines.
6. You can use : Use any store bought or homemade embellishments that are in your colour scheme
You are allowed to make your own as long as you don't use a cutting machine to make them. Only scissors are allowed for these cut elements.

The whole card is completely WHITE! I used more than 4 sheets of a4 paper.
The sun is coming out here in Greece and i believe winter is slipping away to make room for spring.
So it was not easy making pictures.
The front of the card has 6 layers and on the inside it has several on some spots 4 layers.

Outside is:

White lace,  chipboard from wycinanka and added white embossing powder,2 x white doilies, 1 chipboard from wycinanka and added white embossing powder to make it white, white angel from prima marketing,  white lace, white paper banner ( embossing folder) white ribbon,  flowers all painted white.

Inside is:
white layours of embossed papers, 2 white buttons and a white pearl heart on the 'You" sign.

I am also entering this card for sketch #93 at Card abilities. Without knowing it i used their sketch:

With this song in my mind i made this layout!!
I just love it.......and when you whatch the 24hour version you just get happier...

I want to thank all the ladies that voted for me in round 1!!!
Thank you all for stopping by and good luck to all that are joining me in this tournament.
Have a good evening,
Channa

Scrap africa: Chipboard with a twist

Good morning all,

Hope you all had a lovely Valentine's day!

This saturday at Scrap Africa we have a great challenge for you:

Chipboard with a Difference -
Challenge is to use chipboard on your projects, but not just plain,
it must be altered with paints, or embossing etc.

This is my take on the challenge, a valentines situation without using the usual love colors:

A heartshaped box, there are so many tinny details on this box. I would have to post a
book of pictures to show them all to you.

And a matching card:

On both i have used chipboard of Wycinanka. Very easy to use and on both i have used several layers of Frantage embossing enamel. I love this stuff, it gives such a nice effect.

Close up on the box:

Close up on the card.

I have used two different colors of powder gold and aged scarlet.

So pretty, i can look at it for hours. It always takes me hours to get a result, but on the ones i spent the most time, and start without any idea it always comes out the best.

Have a look at Scrap Africa for some inspiration and add your work to our blog.
Thank you for passing by and have a great weekend!!

Well our dinner is in the oven so i thought let me put out my latest layout for a few challenges.

Here is my layout:

I used three pictures from my husband and moi, from 2003( year we met ), 2009 ( we got married) & 2013 (still going strong).
We are celebrating our 11th year together in March so i thought to use these pictures.

Supreme scrap tournament

Good evening all,

Hope you are all having a good day. Today i will share with you my entries for the Supreme scrap tournament organized by two dutch scrapaholics.

It's a world wide tournament and different countries are competing with each other. I am part of the Greek team and I entered myself for the Scrap and Card tournament. So i have double the trouble...............the tournament started with a rough start and hopefully it will get smoother............for all.
We are all doing this for fun and for our own pleasure so this is what i made for the 1st  elimination round.

ATC Card Challenge:
Create and ATC card with the theme HOME,
size 64mm x 89mm,
Use a quote,
No sprays,
No use of a cutting machine,
No house image,

  • The card is exactly the size as requested.
  • I used Distress ink pad (colors: tattered rose, dusty concord, iced spruce)
  • Stazon jet black ink pad
  • Black marker
  • Frantage white embossing enamel
  • Hot air balloon is a wooden veneer of kaiserkraft
  • and a little bit of water to make the vaded spots.
  • The words are printed on a piece of card stock, cut out and i used a black marker around the edges.

Below are some close ups of the card, it's the first ever ATC card that i made and it's a little beauty.

As for the scrap challenge:

Double layout or mixed media showing where you live within a 1000 steps from your home.
No spray inks
At least 3 pictures
visible journaling , MIN 50 words.

This is my layout:

  • Paper used: 7 dotts Domestic goddess
  • Brick mask
  • Paper soft color from viva ( walnut brown )
  • Frantage aged scarlet embossing enamel (spread over the page and on the flowers)

  • Wooden veneer
  • black lace
  • Gesso
  •  Acrylic glaze ( cinnamon brown)
  • Hessian
  • Chipboard of wycinanka
  • Journaling around the edges of the double page.

Below you can find some detailed pictures of my Urban, Ancient greek looking layout.
As they were two different kind of papers i cut them in half diagonal and stuck them together. Pictures are from around in my area Agios Dimitrios in Athens, Greece.

Hopefully up to the next round...........i will let you know!
Thank you for stopping by and have a great evening.

Let's go gelato!

Good Morning all,

It's Channa here, and i want to share with you my Gelato madness.
I made this altered mixed media canvas using the 4 pack Gelato Tropical pack.
It's a combination of 4 tropical colors that are easy to use on any of your projects.

So i started with embossing some stamps on my canvas, just randomly in no particular order.
After i added all the gelato colors and spread them out with a touch of water.
Because the gelatos are waterbased it spread out perfectly on a canvas.
As it was a mixed media canvas i just went crazy, i added stamps, doillies,
stencils....all that was in arms reach and this is the ending product.

The love sign and heart come from the Polka dot party veneer shapes, adding molding paste to get the texture and after it dried out i added some gelatos and stamps.
Below you can see some close ups :

The poem scattered around is from the 14th century Sufi Persian Poet Hafiz:

I thought it was a pretty poem!
It was a pleasure making this canvas, and i love mixed media
because you can never go wrong.

Thank you for passing by and have a great day,
Channa

Hello love........SOS challenge

Good Afternoon all,

Hope you are all enjoying your Saturday?
Today i made a layout for  the Scrap Our Stash challenge blog.

Frosted designs is sponsoring this blog for the month of February and we
were able to join their team for the challenges of this month.

The challenge is
S.W.A.K - Create a layout with Red AND/OR Pink (50% of layout) with the following stash items:
S. - Stitching (machine, hand or faux)
W. - Washi Tape
A.  - Arrow
K. - Kraft paper/embellishment

This is my take on the challenge:

It is February and that means LOVE month, for sure a lot of challenges will be about this subject.
I used a picture of my Husband in front of the tower of Thessaloniki.

 S. - Stitching (machine, hand or faux) - i just randomly stiched with my machine over the page
W. - Washi Tape - around the tag, and on the kraft paper
A.  - Arrow - see above
K. - Kraft paper/embellishment - all the brown pieces

On all the veneer embellishments (LOVE sign, Heart and Arrow) i used red paint and crackle paint. I hope you are able to see it on the pictures.

Well that was my first Love LO for the month, for sure many will follow.
I hope you will join the Challenge at Scrap Our Stash.

Have a great weekend and thanks for popping by!
